Participants in the XIII International Jean Sibelius Violin Competition will perform in drawn numerical order. Each of the competitors has been assigned a number which will follow them throughout the competition.

The starter of the competition will be drawn in Ainola (Sibelius home) on 17 May.

The final order in which the contestants will appear will be determined by the number drawn for the starter, in numerical order. For example, if the starter is number 39, the following contestants will be numbers 40, 41, 42, 1, 2, 3, 4, etc.
