Réka Szilvay

Réka Szilvay is a Professor of Violin Music at the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts, and has performed internationally as both a soloist and chamber musician.

Professor of Violin Music at the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts, Réka Szilvay has performed extensively as a soloist and chamber musician throughout Europe, Asia, South America, South Africa and the United States.

Her artistic vision has been expanded by collaborations with renowned musicians such as Elisabeth Leonskaja, Gerhard Schulz, Erich Höbarth, Matthew Barley and Robert Cohen. Pianist Heini Kärkkäinen and cellist Marko Ylönen are her regular chamber music partners.

In addition to numerous recordings, Szilvay has made radio and TV recordings for YLE (Finland), BBC, Radio France, Arte TV, Austrian ORF and Hungarian MRT.

In her work as a professor, Réka Szilvay carries on the pedagogical traditions of her teachers Géza Szilvay, Tuomas Haapanen, Sándor Végh and Gerhard Schulz.

In addition to her teaching, Réka Szilvay develops the ergonomics of violin playing by lecturing and giving workshops at international conferences and festivals.
