Composer, pianist, arranger and conductor Tuomas Turriago has over thirty years of career as a chamber musician. He has performed at many of Finland’s most prestigious music festivals. One of Turriago’s most recent compositions, a Trumpet Concerto, was premiered in April 2024. The work was commissioned by the Tampere Philharmonic and was shortlisted for the large-scale work award in the Finnish Music Publishers’ Association’s Composer of the Year 2024 series.
Turriago has been a lecturer at Tampere University of Applied Sciences since 2004 and a part-time teacher at the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts since 2019.
Turriago has made guest conducting appearances in Vaasa, Seinäjoki and Mikkeli orchestras. He has conducted regularly the TampereRaw Ensemble, the orchestras and opera productions of Tampere University of Applied Sciences.
Turriago is the Artistic Director of the Riihimäki Summer Concerts.
