The registration for the XIII International Jean Sibelius Violin Competition has closed on 29 January 2025.
A jury appointed by the Competition Committee will pre-select applicants based on their application documents and video recordings. Those accepted for the competition will be notified by 4 March 2025.
The Sibelius Violin Competition will commence with an opening ceremony and the drawing of lots on May 17, 2025.
The First Round will take place from May 19 to 21, with approximately 40 participants accepted.
18 participants will be accepted to the Second Round, taking place from May 23 to May 25.
The Final Round is from May 27 to May 29 and six participants will be accepted to the final round. The prizes will be presented after the final round at the Award Ceremony.

Change in the Jury
The jury has been reduced by one member, as violinist-conductor Jean-Jacques Kantorow announced his resignation from all professional duties for personal reasons. No replacement will be appointed.
The eight-member jury consists of violinist Elise Båtnes, violinist-conductor Jan Söderblom, violinist Jinjoo Cho, violinist Levon Chilingirian, violinist Liza Ferschtman, violin professor Réka Szilvay, and violinist Sung-Ju Lee. The jury is chaired by violinist and conductor John Storgårds.

A New Performing Opportunity Added to the Prizes
The list of prizes for the XIII International Jean Sibelius Violin Competition has been updated.
Sinfonia Lahti invites the selected finalist to perform as a soloist in a concert conducted by Janne Nisonen on December 6, 2025, with a potential repeat performance on Sibelius’s birthday, December 8, 2025.
