Levon Chilingirian

Born in Cyprus, Levon Chilingirian began his violin studies under the guidance of his great-uncle Vahan Bedelian. After moving to London in 1960, he continued his studies with his uncle Manoug Parikian, Hugh Bean and the Amadeus Quartet.

Founded in 1971, the Chilingirian Quartet continues  one of the most internationally celebrated string quartets.

Levon Chilingirian, who also performs as a soloist, has served as Co-Artistic Director of the Pharos Festival in Cyprus and as Director of the Mendelssohn on Mull Festival. Mr Chilingirian has served on numerous international competition juries including Osaka and ARD and has chaired the Trondheim Quartet Competition.

Levon Chilingirian is Professor of Violin and Chamber Music Artist in Residence at the Royal Academy of Music, London, and Professor of Violin and Chamber Music at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London.
