Elise Båtnes, renowned Norwegian violinist and first Concertmaster of the Oslo Philharmonic, is a Grammy and Spellemann Award winner and 1st prize recipient of the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition.
Norwegian violinist Elise Båtnes was 10 years old when she made her debut as a soloist with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Mariss Jansons. She has held the position of the first Concertmaster of the same orchestra since 2008.
Prior to Oslo she was the first concertmaster of WDR Symphony Orchestra in Cologne and the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra. She is also in demand as guest concertmaster with several European orchestras including the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, London Symphony Orchestra, Teatro Real Madrid, Philharmonia and City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.
Active as a chamber musician, Båtnes is a member of Norway’s Grammy and Spellemann Awards winning Vertavo String Quartet. She is also 1st prize winner of the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition.
Elise Båtnes is Professor of Violin at the Norwegian Music Academy (NMH) in Oslo.
