Marko Hilpo has studied at the Sibelius Academy under Hamsa Al-Wadi Juris and Ilmo Ranta and at the Queen Sofia Music Academy in Madrid under Professor Dmitri Bashkirov and Claudio Martinez Mehner.

Hilpo, who has excelled in international competitions, has performed as a recitalist, pianist and chamber musician around the world, as well as soloist with several Finnish orchestras and at international music festivals.

Marko Hilpo works at the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki as well as a theatre conductor. Hilpo has arranged and orchestrated chamber music and several orchestral works, the most recent of which is the ballet Édith Piaf – La vie en rose, which was premiered at the National Ballet in spring 2025. He has also arranged music for theatres.
