After receiving his Bachelor’s degree as a student of Pamela Frank at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, Matthew Hakkarainen went on to complete his Master’s degree at the Juilliard School in New York with Sylvia Rosenberg and Ronald Copes. Matthew has been a prizewinner, including first prize, in several violin competitions in the USA and Europe.

Born in West Palm Beach, Florida in 2000, Matthew currently holds the position of Associate Concertmaster with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and is a member of the Rebanks Fellowship Programme at the Glenn Gould School at the Royal Conservatory of Music.
